Event Details

The George Mason University School of Mangaement's Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship presents a suite of four professional deveopment workshops for the real estate industry.

Spend your Fall Fridays with us in Clarendon. All sessions will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mason's Arlington Campus. See ticket page for individual workshop fees.

  • The Art and Science of Parking Real Estate Projects  (October 11)
One of the biggest challenges in development is getting the parking right. Most projects are over parked--increasing costs and reducing return for the developer. This workshop offers tested approaches and innovative solutions to meeting the market's demand for parking while minimizing parking supply.

Instructor: Brian O'Looney, Design Architect/Partner, Torti Gallas and Partners, Inc.
        Cost: $95 ($50 Mason MRED students/alums)

  • Due Diligence for Real Estate Transactions  (October 18)
They accepted your offer. Now the hard work starts: organizing the due diligence process. This workshop will provide a detailed checklist to guide a thorough property investigation and insights on how to manage your due diligence team operating within tight time constraints.

Instructor: Mary Beth Avedesian, Senior Vice President, B.F. Saul Company, and Susan Arrowsmith, Principal, Asset Strategies LLC
                Cost: $95 ($50 Mason MRED students/alums)

  • Project Management for Real Estate Professionals (October 25)
Successful real estate development cannot be achieved without excellent project management. Too often, project managers are trained informally on-the-job and so never become masters of this essential skill. This workshop provides best practices, tools, and techniques to help you control the development and construction process.

Instructor: John Kirkland, Principal, PMAD Consulting
         Cost: $95 ($50 Mason MRED students/alums)

  • Business Development for the Real Estate Industry (two-day workshop on November 1 and 8)
Successful real estate firms--whether developers or the professions that service developers--must grow their business. For the real estate developer this means finding more deals and for architects, civils, lenders, brokers and zoning attorneys, this means adding developer clients. This two-day workshop provides training in the 5 key principles of business development targeted to the real estate industry.

Instructor: Marilynn Deane Mendell, President, WinSpin CIC, Inc.
      Cost: $195 ($95 Mason MRED students/alums?
