Event Details

New York based owners of Fleisher's Grass-fed & Organic Meats, Joshua and Jessica Applestone, are hitting up the West Coast with their new book in tow- The Butcher's Guide to Well-Raised Meat.  Join them for a book reading after party at the Udder Room to chew the fat and sip some bubbly.

Voted one of the “Best Butcher Shops in the Country” by Food & Wine Magazine, Fleisher’s has appeared in the NY Times, Bon Appetite, Saveur and was chosen as one of Martha Stewart’s 2010 culinary “Taste Makers.” The shop has become a New York destination known for its prime cuts of grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and lamb as well as many other local products as well as a supplier to some of the best restaurants in the New York City area. More recently, the Applestones have expanded their operations to include a butcher training program and consulting services.

"Don't let the 'butcher' throw you: the Applestones have written a guide to buying, eating, and preparing well-raised meat for just about everyone out there—the gourmand, the environmentalist, the home cook, the chef. There's a story and a recipe for anyone who cares what's on his or her plate. A thoughtful, timely, and important book.”

--Dan Barber, chef-owner of Blue Hill at Stone Barns
