Event Details

The Business: Four comedians (Sean Keane, Bucky Sinister, Caitlin Gill, Nato Green) each curate one quarter of two hours for five bucks. Professionals doing more bang for less buck. All forms and styles exploited; The comedy equivalent to an "Everything Bagel". We regularly welcome special guest stars, ranging from standup comics to spoken word performers to authors to burlesque dancers.

SEAN KEANE is a comedian and writer who performs at all the finest clubs and colleges in the SF Bay Area, and some of the mediocre ones, too. His sportswriting appears all over the Internet. He's a four-time Iron Comic champion, a four-time performer at SF Sketchfest, and won the 2008 Twisted Biscuit competition. He's contributed to McSweeney's Internet Tendency, ESPN the Magazine, and the "Fantasia In Best Show Minor" DVD.

BUCKY SINISTER describes himself as a misunderstood literary genius, a middle-aged comedian and a reluctant self-help guru. He has written three books of poetry, one of which also contained some short stories. His latest book is Get Up: A 12-step Guide to Recovery for Misfits, Freaks, and Weirdos. Bucky came out with a comedy CD before he ever did a gig at a comedy club.

CAITLIN GILL performs in SF Sketchfest, in the Vancouver Global Comedy Fest, all the time at the Bay's best clubs and was host of The Ladies Room Open Mic and Showcase (in a laundromat). 7x7 Magazine featured her as one of the 7 Comics Rocking the Local Scene in July 2011 (Alex and Chris too!). She was the Tourettes Without Regrets 2011 Slam Champion and a competitor at the 2011 National Poetry Slam. She is also deadly in the art of dirty haiku.
You can find her at www.caitlingill.com and on twitter @caitlinistall. Also at http://dirtyhaiku.tumblr.com/ and http://lakemerrittwalks.tumblr.com/

NATO GREEN was summed up more or less accurately by The East Bay Express as, “erudite and acerbic, a San Francisco-raised father, union organizer, gastronome, bibliophile, and political sparkplug.” Nato wrote for Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell on FX. He recently released his first comedy album, The Nato Green Party, through Rooftop Comedy.

Nato toured with W. Kamau Bell & Janine Brito as Laughter Against the Machine, the guerrilla stand-up comedy tour, like Doctors Without Borders with jokes. Laughter Against the Machine conducted a Kicktstarter campaign to film a feature-length tour documentary from the frontlines of American controversy, unexpectedly landing in the middle of Occupy Wall Street and the Oakland general strike.

Nato was named SF Weekly’s Best Comedian of 2010 and got his own cover story in 2011 for getting “smarter and faster” and putting on “legendary” shows that keep audiences “doubled over.” Nato is the creator of Iron Comic, the Iron Chef-spoofing comedy game show that he often co-hosts with Moshe Kasher. Nato's humor commentaries have appeared in Huffington Post, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, The Rumpus, The Bold Italic, and more. www.natogreen.com or twitter @natogreen.

The Dark Rpom Theater FAQ

Can I Bring In Booze?

Nope! The Dark Room Theater is an all ages venue that could be shut down if the wrong people happened to see booze inside!

Aw... But Really?

Yes... Really and for realsies.

Where Are The Restrooms?

The restrooms are located past the stage, down the hall, red doors on the left.

So, Can I Use Them During The Show?

During the majority of performances at The Dark Room Theater we ask that unless it is an emergency you use the restroom before the show begins or after it has ended. Shows almost never run longer than one hour.

The Show I REALLY Wanted To See Sold Out Online! Help What Do I Do?

Shows at The Dark Room Theater have limited seating with a slightly restricted view available at the door, once doors open. Doors tend to open 30 minutes before the show's starting time. No tickets will be sold at the door before the doors open.

What If I Call/Email/Knock On The Door/Offer A Vial Of Blood AND/OR Unborn Child?

Still the same deal as above... Please don't do the last one.

I Keep Calling The Night Of A Show Because I Have Questions, Why Won't Anyone Pick Up?

Due to how frantic things can get as we gear up for our shows we turn the ringers off generally around an hour before a night of shows begins. Also, we don't like it when shows get interrupted by phones ringing. This means that if we have shows running until 12am, the phones are off until then. You can always send in an email, which has a far better chance of being noticed.
