The Business Path: How Will You Design Yours?
An ASID Emerging Professional Town Hall

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 | NeoCon
Atelier Lapchi Showroom | 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 6-160

Cost to attend: This event is free! Please join us for a networking reception immediately following the presentation.

ASID and Industry Partner Atelier Lapchi will host an open floor discussion on building your own interior design business from the ground up — a professional path which is growing in popularity for designers in their first years of practice. Attendees will hear from a panel of emerging and established professionals who have decided to be their own boss, discussing how this choice has impacted their career in design as a sole proprietor in today’s market. From lessons learned, to the moment a business owner realizes they have “made it,” attendees will enjoy listening to real-life stories from designers who have taken risks and trusted their instincts.

If you have owned your own company or freelanced, is there still a home for you with the larger industry corporations? Was the business of owning your own firm part of your design education?

Learn from others’ experiences! Bring your questions and comments to the floor and contribute to a conversation shaped by the next generation of design industry leaders! Enjoy refreshments during an opening cocktail reception as you network with peers and pros! This event is free to attend, but space is limited- please reserve your seat today!

Her thesis research was based in environmental psychology and investigated the decreased communication and increased stress caused by multiple generations in the American office environment. Through this investigation, she developed a prescriptive set of interior design guidelines using restorative design applications as a catalyst for improved communication and decreased stress in the multi-generational workplace. She received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Bonnie is extremely passionate about the built environment's ability to impact its end-user.
