SESSION 4: THE BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS

Are you a visionary entrepreneur, who is developing a game changing technology, product or service? Did you need help determining the best business model for your technology? Are you struggling to determine the right markets for your technology? Then, the “Business Model Canvas” is the right tool for you.

You will learn about the “Business Model Canvas” as presented in Business Model Generation by Alexander Osterwalder, Yves Pigneur, et. al. Business Model Generation features practical innovation techniques used by leading consultants and companies worldwide, including 3M, Ericsson, Capgemini, Deloitte, and others, and helps entrepreneurs reinterpret them for their own context. The process of completing the ”Business Model Canvas” will help you understand your customers, distribution channels, partners, revenue streams, costs, and your core value proposition at a much deeper level. This session will involve reviewing a case study utilizing methodology from Business Model Generation as well as demonstrate the app available for iPad devices.

THE F.A.T. SERIES

The successful entrepreneur knows that financial savvy, expertise and discipline are the key tools in creating a successful business. Even if this is not your “core competency”, the successful executive will know how to uncover the “unknown unknowns” and build a team of experts to complement his/her skill set. It’s important, therefore, to select specialists in the areas of finance, accounting and tax who have the bandwidth and subject matter expertise. Our series will teach you the highlights and key areas in F.A.T. that you should know so that you can stay focused on building your business.
