Barbara Coloroso is an international bestselling author and for the past 38 years an internationally recognized speaker and consultant on parenting, teaching, school discipline, positive school climate, bullying, grieving, nonviolent conflict resolution and restorative justice.
She has appeared on Oprah, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and NPR and has been featured in the New York Times, Time, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, and other national and international publications.
Her uniquely effective parenting and teaching strategies were developed through her years of training in sociology, special education, and philosophy, as well as field-tested through her experiences as a classroom teacher, laboratory school instructor, university instructor, seminar leader, volunteer in Rwanda, and mother of three grown children.
Please join us as Barbara discusses:
· What bullying is and what bullying isn’t; the three kinds of bullying and the differences and similarities between boy and girl bullies.
· How to create “circles of caring in the home, school and community
· Helping students protect themselves from cyber-bullying.
Although the program in general will focus on the high school years, parents of elementary and middle school age children are also encouraged to attend. Barbara’s program is NOT suitable for elementary or middle school aged children; however, high school students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Babysitting will be provided-please see below for more details.
Let our responsible, mature and FUN Walter Johnson students care for your child while you attend the Barbara Coloroso program! We will have a portion of the cafeteria set up with activities, crafts and healthy snacks your child will be sure to enjoy.
Many of our students have gained education and experience through the Walter Johnson Early Childhood Education department. The students will also be assisted by an adult volunteer. So relax and know your child will be safe and happy while you are gaining a valuable experience sure to benefit your family.

The Walter Johnson High School PTSA is a dedicated group of parents, teachers and students who work together in support of the school and community.
Our contributions to the WJ community include publications such as the The Big Train newsletters and The Lineup student directory. In addition to programs and events, we also help fund the freshman family picnic, staff appreciation events and awards; and provide financial support to the Guidance Committee (GAC) and Prom Breakfast committes.
