Event Details

Join Eyeful Art and UP Art Studio, with community partners Texan-French Alliance for the Arts and The Midtown District, on June 7, 2014 as we celebrate the completion of the biggest mural in Houston's history, "Preservons La Creation" ("Let's Preserve the Creation").

French-American artist Sebastien “Mr. D” Boileau will paint a five-story, 60-foot-high by one city block-wide, 8,000-square-foot mural in Midtown, the Cultural Arts & Entertainment District of Houston.

The property will be demolished for new development within a year at which point the work of art will cease to exist – thus inspiring the name and subject of this large-scale mural.

WHAT: “Preservons La Creation” carries with it a mission of public art awareness and community centered art projects that connect the business and creative sectors.

WHY: The objective is to both beautify the greater Houston area and educate through events, classes, and other outreach efforts, while furthering the discussion of conservation and preservation. The project will benefit a children’s hospital mural project, which will begin production in 2014-2015.

WHERE: 2800 San Jacinto / Northeast Corner of Fannin Street and Tuam Street

WHEN:
May 1, 2014 – Mural Production begins
June 5, 2104 – V.I.P. Preview Event
June 7, 2014 – Opening Event & Ceremonies
