Join us for an unforgettable afternoon on Sunday, April 7th for a viewing and panel discussion of the HBO film, The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia. A 2012 selection of the Sundance Film Festival, the movie provides personal accounts of the dyslexic experience from children, experts and such iconic leaders as Sir Richard Branson and financier Charles Schwab. Directed by James Redford, it also clears up misconceptions about dyslexia, and paints a picture of hope for all who struggle with it.
The film highlights the work of Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, co-directors of the Yale Center of Dyslexia and Creativity, concerning the latest scientific and psychological research -- illustrating that while the condition is an obstacle, it also confers some unique advantages, and ultimately can be overcome.
Dr. Sally Shaywitz will join us after the movie for a panel discussion that will also include the Lucas family, featured in the film, as well as a high school senior from The Kildonan School and Marc Hoffman, founder of Hoffman Education and a Smart Kids with LD board member. Parents are encouraged to bring children 9 and older.
Dr. Shaywitz will sign copies of her celebrated book, Overcoming Dyslexia, which will be available for sale.
Space is limited so purchase your tickets today!
This event is generously sponsored by Cohen and Wolf and Gault Energy.
