Description

Harvest USA presents:

The Bible, the Church and Homosexuality: Walking in Truth and Mercy

~ A Seminar ~

Do you want to better understand the issues of those who live with same-sex attraction, and to better respond to them in ways that promote life-affirming obedience to Jesus Christ?

Do you desire to learn how to speak wisely and intelligently on these matters from a biblical framework, which will help minister to those living with same-sex attraction?

Join the staff at Harvest USA on April 30, 2016 as they present this dynamic and practical seminar on Homosexuality. We will examine the cultural myths surrounding these issues, as well as dig into Scripture to see a biblical view of sexuality. We will also look at how individuals and the church as a whole can disciple and minister to those struggling with same-sex attraction.

Session Descriptions:

Session One: Does God’s Design for Sexuality Still Make Sense?

The Christian view of sex and sexuality is seen as both outdated and increasingly harmful. But God’s design for sexuality is a comprehensive perspective on the purpose for sexuality for the individual, the family and for society as well. This session will also examine the key messages of post-Christian sexual ethics that are making their way into the church.

Session Two: How Does the Gospel Make Sense of the Controversial Passages?

The battle over what the Bible says about homosexuality is raging today, between those who take a traditional perspective and those who are actively reinterpreting those passages. But is there a better way to look at the six major Scripture passages that address homosexuality? We think so.

Session Three: Why Do We Struggle with Our Sexuality?

The Christian view of humanity is that we are all fallen and broken in every aspect of life. And when it comes to sex and sexuality, we find the struggle much more difficult, and that is so for those who experience same-sex attraction. What are the factors that contribute to our struggles with our sexuality, and how does knowing this help us?

Session Four: How Do We Walk Alongside of Believers Who Struggle?

Our churches are filled with men and women and youth who experience same-sex attraction. Most of these believers struggle in secret and in silence. How can we help them? How can we walk alongside of them and become a community together that helps one another live faithful lives in the area of sexuality?

Session Five: How Do We Cultivate Gospel Relationships in a Gay Affirming Culture?

In an increasingly gay-affirming culture, how can Christians speak into that culture with their neighbors and colleagues? What should Christians do if they receive an invitation to a same-sex wedding, or their children are invited to play with children from a gay family? These encounters can be gospel opportunities. What does biblical wisdom look like here?
