Karen Burkhart Friday April 26,2013 with opening performance by guest Steve Dethloff
Canadian born Singer-Songwriter, Karen Burkhart, has been passionate about singing for as long as she can remember. At the age of ten, Karen sang her first solo in church and six years later, while on a missions' trip, she sensed God calling her to serve Him vocationally through music. A year later, Karen enrolled in Summit Pacific College on Canada's west coast to study sacred music and theology. In her freshman year Karen was invited to sing in the college's touring ensemble, The Harmonaires. This experience confirmed she was on the right path and she looked forward to more opportunities to minister through music.
Just two weeks before returning for her sophomore year, Karen's plans changed unexpectedly. Karen's church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, hosted a touring group called, One Accord from North Central University (NCU) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was deeply touched by their ministry and strongly sensed that God was inviting her to position herself so that one year she could join that group. With some apprehension and even more faith, Karen accepted God's invitation and transferred to NCU. In her junior year, Karen's hope became a reality when she was selected to join One Accord. Touring with One Accord around the United States and Canada allowed Karen to develop her voice and ministry, and it also provided her with her first recording opportunity. Karen thrived while living on the road and loved the simplicity of singing and pointing people to Jesus
