Weekend Perfume Intensive: April
- Fashion & Beauty
- The Institute for Art and Olfaction, Los Angeles CA
Smell psychologist Dr. Avery Gilbert leads an interactive exploration of synaesthesia, the multisensory phenomena that connect smell, sight and sound.
Once thought to be rare, synaesthesia has inspired artists, musicians, poets and perfumers. Dr. Gilbert contends that most people experience some form of synaesthetic perception: Join us to learn how the brain creates these associations, and how they have been used in art and performance from the ancient Greeks to Smell-O-Vision.
Dr. Gilbert, a scientific pioneer in olfactory synaesthesia and a member of the IAO Board of Advisors, will guide our way to smelling shapes and colors in his experiential, interactive workshop.
This event will be strictly limited to 20 people, and is functioning as a fundraiser for the IAO.
A select amount of early bird tickets are available, until April 1, 2013. 6pm (PST).
The Insitute for Art and Olfaction is devoted to creative experimentation with a focus on scent. Our goal is to create new points of entry for people interested in the field of olfaction, while accommodating creative ideas in all mediums.
