On Saturday, August, 30th, join us for the 1st annual Amazing Maasai Global Run! To coincide with Year 4 of the Amazing Maasai Marathon in Kenya, we the ask that you donate a 10km run and show your support for girls education in Kenya.
Maeve Whelan-Wuest will lead the group run in DC, and you'll be in great company globally! Runners in cities all over the world will be lacing up their running shoes and hitting the road to honor our amazing girls that we are sponsoring through high school. Multiple "micro-runs" around the world will be held that day, in conjunction with the Marathon in Kenya.
Maeve will be providing your runner bibs (it's an organized run, afterall!) and leading you through a fantastic 10km run that morning. Runners should meet at the front of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History at 10th and Constitution Ave NW (the non-Mall side). Expect a lovely trot around the National Mall and Monuments!
Join us and the global running community in coming together to run in unison for girls education!
This is an informal, unorganized fun run for our worldwide running community. Participants can run or walk, either solo or with friends, to show our Amazing Girls in Kenya that the world supports them and believes their education is important. It is NOT a race, so there will be no course markings, race timings/results or insurance etc. Neither the Amazing Maasai Girls Project not Your City Captain are responsible for you, your personal safety, security or health. Your run entirely at will and at your own risk - this is just for fun!
When & Where
The Amazing Maasai Girls Project
The Amazing Maasai Girls Project (AMGP) is a US-registered 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer-run organization. Our mission is to provide high school school scholarships to Maasai girls in rural Kenya, whose families would otherwise have no means to afford the school fees.
We believe ALL girls deserve the opportunity to learn, to pursue an education, employment and independence. We also believe it's time to END female genital mutilation (FGM) and END childhood marriage in Kenya. Sending girls to secondary school is the very best way to do this in Kenya.
Since 2010 we have raised more than $150,000 and currently sponsor 61 Amazing Girls. Every year we hold the Amazing Maasai Marathon in Kenya and the GLOBAL RUN as fundraisers for our scholarship program. Karibu! Join us!
