How this all began:
On a typical Friday afternoon, July 27th, 2012, Perry came upstairs from working in his home office. We had a snack together, updated one another on our day and shared a sweet time together. I left to go on a quick errand and when I returned, my Perry was having severe pain in his head. I rushed him to the emergency room, where it was found that he had a severe bleed and needed immediate surgery to remove the blood and locate the problem. Life changed immediately for our family, but we were in it for the long haul…in sickness and in health…
Days later, it was found that Perry had a cancerous tumor that hemorrhaged severely, not known to us until then, and there were no prior symptoms. Perry went home to be with his Savior and Lord August 2nd, 2012, never waking up here in this world, but waking to see the eyes of his Savior in heaven.
Who was Perry Carroscia:
Perry was a sincere, genuine, self-disciplined, honest man who loved well and desired to live what he said he believed…that God’s Word is true and that God’s love and grace are real and transforming. Perry lived each part of his life with Jesus as the center. His life was anchored in Christ and that was consistently seen by his family, friends and coworkers. Perry was truly a living testimony. Perry was obedient to the Word of God...desiring to be like Christ. Every morning Perry would rise early, take his coffee and open God’s Word, meet with The Lord, read his Bible and pray. Perry modeled what it looks like to be a committed, faithful follower of Christ and a true man of integrity.
Perry loved well! Perry was a committed and amazing husband to me; we were truly ‘ONE’ as God’s Word explains. Perry was my high school sweetheart, my best friend. Perry knew my love language and showed many acts of kindness and love daily…seen by my children. Other than his personal relationship with Jesus Christ, it was clear to see that our family was the most important thing to Perry on earth…he showed us that daily. Perry was a great leader here and a man that listened intently and sacrificed for us. Perry was a father that I admired and respected greatly. He was very involved in our children’s lives, school, sports and activities. He was our spiritual leader and we saw his consistency everywhere we went, daily. He lived it, not just ‘talked’ it. His physical presence is missed terribly.
What kind of impact will Run4Perry have:
The Run4Perry 5k will be a blessing to our family and will honor Perry and his desire for our three children to attend college. Evan is talking about med school so he will have a long college road with much expense and will begin college in the fall of 2014.
I am so thrilled that students will receive the Perry Carroscia Memorial Scholarship at CVCA moving forward each year. This may be a student that has lost a parent, just as my kids have. We know the financial struggle that there is on this new road without a second parent and we could not be happier to help another child that is walking our similar path. What a blessing!
Perry would be so very happy to know that his family is being loved and cared for so well in his absence. It is a beautiful thing, all because of Perry’s life well lived. I am grateful!
Thank you so much Stacey for sharing your thoughts with us!
