The 2007 National Cyber Security Awareness Summit

Each year, the National Cyber Security Division (NCSD) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) joins with the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) and other partners to support National Cyber Security Awareness Month, a national campaign focused on educating the American public, businesses, schools and government agencies about ways to secure their part of cyber space, computers and our nation's critical infrastructure.

This year, the NCSD will join with the Federal Trade Commission and the NCSA to kick-off National Cyber Security Awareness Month by hosting the 2007 National Cyber Security Awareness Summit on October 1 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

To address the ongoing concern about vulnerabilities in our nation’s information infrastructure and to help individuals protect themselves from online threats, the Summit will bring together experts from government agencies, corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, educational institutions, consumer protection organizations, law enforcement agencies, and non-profits.

The purpose of the Summit is to examine ways to develop an actionable, sustained national awareness campaign and prevention program to inform Federal, State, and local government, educational institutions, small businesses, and home users of cyber security risks and help organizations and individuals protect key resources, critical infrastructure, and their own personal sensitive information and identities from man-made and natural threats.

Keynote speakers include:

The Honorable Greg Garcia, Assistant Secretary for Cyber Security and Communications, Department of Homeland Security

The Honorable Deborah Platt Majoras, Chairman,  Federal Trade Commission
