Some people believe that the end of days is at hand, as near as 12/21/12. FEARSmag.com and the Winter Film Awards is pleased to announce their partnership with the Showbiz Store and Cafe to present a special evening titled THAT'S ALL FOLKS! - Or How I Came to Embrace the End of the World. Join moderator Joseph Mauceri (FEARSmag), along with renowned critics and journalists Maitland McDonagh (former TV Guide's Senior Movies Editor), Edwin Pagán (Founder-In-Chief of LATIN HORROR), and Mike Sargent (radio personality and film critic) as they discuss Hollywood's cinematic obsession with the end of the world as we know it.
From the 1936 film 'Things to Come' and continuing into 2013 with films like 'The Dresden Codex,' the history of the cinema contains a vast variety of imaginings as to the demise of humanity and the ultimate destruction of our planet. The evenings discussion will include numerous film clips, trailers, and artwork showcasing a variety of such films that have ignited audiences' imaginations. The panel will be discussing their favorite films as they fall into four categories - Environmental (terrestrial), Man Made (This would include zombies as a result of a virus etc.), Extra Terrestrial (threats from outer space), and Spiritual/Supernatural. The panel will not limit the discussion to simply the Mayan Myth, but look at films that explore the Eschatological themes of Armageddon, Apocalypse,End Time, Doomsday, and the basic End of the World as we know it! With such a timely topic for discussion the panel is expecting some interesting audience participation that evening.
