Texas State Innovation Models (SIM) Initiative Conference
Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM - Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 2:45 PM (CDT)
This conference is an opportunity for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and Health Management Associates (HMA) to showcase potential innovative payment and delivery system models designed as part of the SIM model design process. These potential models are based on initial stakeholder input and the conference will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to offer additional feedback.
A model design award was granted to HHSC on April 1, 2013, as part of the SIM initiative to design innovative payment and delivery system models. Under this project, Texas is designing innovative multi-payer delivery and payment models that base payment on quality outcomes. Potential models include:
- Accountable care organizations or shared savings arrangements.
- Bundled or episodic payments.
- Medical or health homes.
For additional details on the SIM initiative, refer to the HHSC SIM webpage.
HHSC works with HMA—an independent, national research and consulting firm specializing in publicly financed health care—on the SIM initiative. HMA is part of the HHSC multi-consultant pool and was selected to work on this project through a competitive request for quotations (RFQ) process.
Conference registration opens at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 20th. The conference runs from 12pm – 5pm on August 20th and includes lunch. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:00am on Wednesday, August 21st, with the conference starting at 8:00am and ending at 2:45pm. Lunch is also included. A draft agenda is available here.
