Test Patterns, Science and … Art?
Wednesday April 24th
6:30 -9:30 PM
Test Patterns … Art? Yes, it’s true those wonderful images that have been used for decades to improve images have become the center piece of an artistic presentation by artist Lucy Raven. She will present her art and discuss her inspiration with us.
Following that we will explore the history, evolution and use of test images to analyze and improve our rich media experiences. Test images, charts and patterns have been used since the beginning of reproduced media, and the Digital revolution only expands that need. Join, Joe Kane as he leads presentations by Dan Sherlock of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and Vince Roth of Fotokem. Together they will look at the development and current use and disuse of patterns in the Motion Picture and Broadcast Industry; including some historic images and all the way to the current “Digital Leader”.
Also, Joe will discuss how recent innovations have made test patterns and images so much more accessible and useful to users than ever before.
The event will open at 6:30 with Pre-Meeting refreshments and Networking, followed by the subject at 7:30.
