Event Details

About the workshop:

This workshop is designed to dive deeper into what makes a good story for performance. Students will come to class with a story in mind, and in addition to group instruction, everyone will have the opportunity to get up in front of the class for 10 minutes of one-on-one coaching.

Note: A pre-requisite worksheet will be sent via email one week prior to the class.

Instructor: Hillary Rea

Each Tell Me A Story workshop will focus on a specific element of storytelling for performance. Take one class or take them all. July's class is all about THE SENSES.

* Bring your story to life with details that evoke all five senses.

* Discover the humor that comes incorporating all of the senses into your story.

* Learn how to connect with your audience by describing the Who, What, When, Where through Taste, Smell, Sight, Sound, and Touch.

Tell Me A Story

In addition to running workshops for performance and for business, Tell Me A Story is a bi-monthly show presented by Shot Tower Coffee and hosted by Hillary Rea. Within the intimate setting of a Queen Village coffee shop, storytellers and comedians  reveal true, comedic stories based on a theme. An evening of secrets spilled, confessions blurted, and memories shared. Past storytellers include Kambri Crews (author of Burn Down The Ground), Dana Rossi (The Soundtrack Series), Julia Weideman (Upright Citizen’s Brigade) and Juliet Hope Wayne (Moth Grand Slam winner). TMAS has been featured on WXPN’s Live at the Kelly Writer’s House and The Arden Theatre Company’s First Fridays
