TEDxSFED Simulcast @ The Urban School of San Francisco
Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, CA
Hello and welcome to TEDxSFED Simulcast @ The Urban School of San Francisco! Thank you so much for your interest in the event, we're excited to share the day with you.
TEDxSFED is an independently organized TED event exploring how to "mashEDup" and "re-imagine education".
Location: Urban School, San Francisco 1563 Page Street San Francisco, CA 94117
9:00 AM - Doors open
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Watch live stream of TEDxSFED Main Stage
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Educators will present a quick demo (five minutes or less) of an innovative practice they use -- or want to use -- in the classroom, school or district. These practices can be as simple as greeting each student by name as he or she walks into class, to something more complex like a strategy to implement project-based learning district-wide.
After the demos, we'll break into smaller groups led by the presenters, and brainstorm ideas for how others might be able to utilize these practices in our own schools or learning communities. Each participant will come away with some practical takeaway ideas to bring home.
7:00 PM Afterparty! Network and mingle with other TEDxSFED attendees at 111 Minna, San Francisco.
When & Where
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSFED, where x = independently organized TED event. At TEDxSFED, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
