On Wednesday, April 3 at 9:00am TEDxSantaMonica will be participating in the Bill and Melinda Gates TEDxChange 2013 program, themed "Positive Disruption." We will provide a free livestream of the event, which will be a 90-minute program.
As livestream begins promptly at 9:00am, we recommend arriving a few minutes early to meet other TEDsters.
More about the theme:
Disruption is usually unwelcome. It represents conflict, chaos, and potential danger. We discourage disruptive behavior in our homes and our societies, often favoring passivity and compliance.
But disruption can be a positive – sometimes vital – catalyst for change. It can challenge old assumptions, ignite conversations, activate authorities and expose new possibilities. Disruption can shed a unique light on difficult issues, giving a fresh urgency and perspective to the challenges of our global community.
To solve the most intractable challenges in health and development, we need positive disruption. It is the path to true progress.

We are volunteers who work passionately to bring TED-like experiences to the Santa Monica community. In the spirit of TED, we aim to use local resources (both people, services and products) when creating our events. Thus, we choose speakers who live or work in Santa Monica, provide catering from Santa Monica restaurants and utilize services of Santa Monica businesses. We encourage guests to view themselves as participants rather than audience members, and to partake in the effort to unify, support and promote the community through the vehicle of TED.
