Event Details

TEDxMIA is hosting a free livestream watch party of selected sessions from the 2012 National TEDxWomen conference Friday, November 30, 2012 from 6 pm - 9 pm at The Stage in Miami, FL.

This intimate TEDxMIAWomen event offers the opportunity to witness the global conversation, again moderated by Pat Mitchell, in addition to fostering the discussion locally with fellow thinkers and innovators.

Mingling begins at the The Stage located in the Design District starting at 5:30 p.m. with available bars and great conversation. The video stream begins promptly at 6:00 pm.

Space is limited, so sign up quickly to ensure your participation in what promises to be a thought provoking and entertaining evening. Be ready to hear a few ideas worth sharing and to share your ideas with others!

This event is made possible through the generous support of our partner, the Knight Foundation, which is sponsoring all TEDxWomen events across the nation.

About TEDxWomen

TEDxWomen is a TEDx event organized by the Paley Center that focuses on women and women's issues. TEDxWomen type events are TEDx events hosted around the live webcast of TEDxWomen, and also feature local speakers. Our event is called TEDxMIAWomen, and is one of many TEDx events happening around the globe on December 1st that will expand on the ideas brought up at TEDxWomen.

The theme for 2012 is The Space Between, which brings forward conversation threads from our previous conferences -- how women are less likely to approach subjects from a black-or-white perspective, that they see the gray area in between. There is a curiosity in wanting to explore what is in between extremes, to gain the big picture and find the areas where we need more understanding and, perhaps, compromise.  Women know that this is where life happens -- the places in between.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani,Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California, with simulcast in Palm Springs; TEDGlobal is held each year in Oxford, UK. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world, and the TEDFellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
