You are invited to join us for a full day of urban inspiration on
Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Disney's Aulani Conference Center
Please plan to arrive at the Aulani around 9 a.m. to check in, find your way around, and enjoy a delicious continental breakfast buffet. We suggest you catch or host a ride to the event, which is a great way to meet other attendees. Self or valet parking is $10 with validation by 10 AM.
In order to keep a full day of speakers, presenters and performers right on schedule, our event will start at 10 a.m. sharp!
Your Waimea Continental Breakfast includes Kona blend coffee, assorted teas, orange juice, pineapple juice, sliced seasonal fruit, muffins, cinnamon raisin bread, croissants, banana macadamia nut coffee cake, danish, bagels served with whipped island butter, orange marmalade, strawberry preserves and guava jam, plain and flavored cream cheese.
Get to know our main event emcee, speakers, and performers by clicking here.
12 live TEDx presenters + 4 musical performances + 4 incredible TEDTalks (and more) will keep you - and your brain - engaged throughout the day. The complete conference schedule will be posted on our website soon, so stay tuned.
There will be numerous breaks throughout the day, including a nice long lunch to give you a chance to think about the ideas you have heard, discuss these ideas with other attendees, or wander off and explore the magnificent Aulani property.
The Kahala Lunch Buffet will include the chef's selection of seasonal soup, whole wheat pasta primavera salad, marinated grilled and chilled balsamic garden vegetables, a salad bar with assorted toppings and dressings, and a sandwich bar with slow-roasted turkey breast, tavern-style deli ham, sliced roast beef and air-dried salami, assorted sliced cheese, and, of course, sliced seasonal fruit or white chocolate macadamia nut cookies and blondies for dessert. Then we'll head back into the conference center for more talks, performances, surprises and fun!
As you depart our main event at the end of the day, you will receive your official TEDxHonolulu 2012 gift bag. Inside you will find your official "City 2.0" T-shirt and an assortment of wonderful gifts donated by our generous local supporters.
This year, for the first time ever, the TED Prize did not go to an individual but to an idea on which our planet's future depends: the City 2.0
The TEDx platform will harness the power of people across the globe, featuring the brightest local minds and biggest hearts. Our speakers will focus on themes including culture, transportation, health, education, recreation and more, encompassing all the elements whose presence will dictate the success of our future cities.
THE CITY 2.0 WISH
I am the crucible of the future.
I am where humanity will either flourish or fade.
I am being built and rebuilt every day.
I am inevitable.
But I am not yet determined.
I wish to be inclusive, innovative, healthy, soulful, thriving.
But my potential can only be reached through you.
We can forge a new urban outlook.
Let's begin by connecting.
Imagine a platform that brings us together, locally and globally.
We will combine the reach of the cloud with the power of the crowd.
We will connect leaders, experts, companies, organizations and citizens.
We will share our tools, data, designs, successes, and ideas.
We will turn them into action.
Together we can bridge the gap between poor and rich communities.
Spectacularly reduce our carbon footprint.
Make nature part of our daily life.
I am the City 2.0. Dream me. Build me. Make me real.
Thank you for your continued support of LOCAL ideas worth spreading.
A hui hou!
