About the Panelists
Sophia Viklund, Co-Founder of Backcode, a game development studio in Pasadena focusing on Serious Games (including for military applications) and Entertainment projects. She has been working in software, web and game development since 1998. Sophia was named in Forbes in July 2012 as one of a select group of "Female Founders to Watch”, and again in March 2013 as part of a group of “Women in Gaming to Watch.” Sophia is an active mentor for STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and her mission is to bring more women into technology/STEM education and business entrepreneurship.
Geoffrey Plitt, Principal Engineer & Tech Lead at Maker Studios has over a decade of experience in high-scale cloud web engineering. After earning his CS degree at Carnegie Mellon, Geoff has worked for Google, co-founded the "Laffster" comedy/tech startup with VC funding, and worked for a variety of other cutting edge technology companies as a web engineer. Most recently, Geoff became Director of Engineering at Maker Studios and runs a team of 10 engineers who build cutting-edge tools for content creators.
Justin Stofle, Lead iOS Architect at Scopely and original creator of its most successful game, Dice with Buddies. He applies his experience to Scopely's other hits like Mini Golf MatchUp and Wordly. He manages a team of talented iOS Developers and has worked on a wide variety of thin client and mobile applications. He has extensive experience in engineering, design and monetization of iOS Apps and relentlessly ships. He is proud of being a role-model for aspiring app developers at Scopely and for entrepreneurs at large.
Christina Meono, Software Engineer at Science Inc is a product manager turned software engineer. She is a graduate of Hackbright Academy in San Francisco, and a Ruby on Rails developer at Science Inc. Previous roles include Product Management, Customer Acquisition, Media Buying and Ad Operations. She loves clean code, good coffee, long bike rides, and cute dogs.
As a developer evangelist, he travels to many events and hackathons hanging out with other developers and hacking up cool things.
Mike Flynn, Head of Technology at Collective Digital Studios has worked in both technology and the entertainment industry for 10 years. In his current role as the Director of Technology for Collective Digital Studio, he manages all technical initiatives while working with talent, management and sales to find innovative solutions to their problems or opportunities...and does eventually find the time to code a bit. Previously Mike has developed and run content rich social networks, and most recently was the Senior Software Architect for Answers.com, where he built the foundation of what is now a top 20 site in the United States.
