Technovation Workshop: Innovation for the Future
Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (PST)
San Jose, CA
Technovation partners with The Tech for a workshop designed to empower girls to dream big and turn their ideas into reality. Girls will work in teams to identify a local or global challenge and how it can be solved or improved. They’ll brainstorm solutions, learn about app design, and present their ideas to the group. The girls will walk away knowing that they are not only future consumers of technology, but creators.
Questions can be directed to Judy Ho (firstname.lastname@example.org).
When & Where
Technovation is a technology entrepreneurship course for middle school, high school, and university age female students. We match teams of up to 5 girls with a female mentor from the tech industry to complete a 12-week program in which they learn to research, design, code, and pitch a mobile app to real investors. Teams use MIT's App Inventor to code their apps.
So far, over 1,300 girls in 19 countries have already taken part, and the program is completely free for all participants.
