Room 372         Going Google to Revolutionize Your School       Presented by Eric and Becky Renegar, Computer Information Systems Dept, Sinclair

Would you like to learn about the amazing advantages of using “the Cloud”?  Here’s your chance to gain an understanding of Google Apps and see Chromebooks in action.  You will receive a step-by-step action plan on how to best “Go Google” from the Google Apps experts.

 Room 374         Beginners’ WORD        Presented by Anita Gilkey, Business Information Systems Dept., Sinclair

Participants will learn how to type and format text, change font styles and color, use bullets, justification and more.  They will gain experience with text boxes, pictures, cover pages and table of contents.

 Room 262         Exploring the Science of Flight in the Classroom      Presented by Richard J. Hughes, Lt. Col. USAF

Educators will learn how to use the study of flight in the classroom and beyond.  Applications in STEM curriculum as well as in the social sciences will be demonstrated.  An explanation and discussion on how to use aerospace examples and the study of flight in exciting ways in the classroom will be given.

 Room 282        Developing an Integrated Project        Presented by Letitia McKnight       

You will be introduced to strategies for developing and planning an integrated project across content areas.  We will be sharing developed projects, and conduct a brainstorming session to generate project ideas in collaboration with teachers of various content areas.

Come explore the world in 3D and bring geography to life!  Learn how to manipulate a virtual globe to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings and elevation profiles.

 Room 374         Beginners’  Excel       Presented by Ryan Murphy, Business Information Systems Dept., Sinclair

Want to excel with Excel?  Come learn how to create, edit, format, filter and sort a spreadsheet.  Here’s your chance to gain experience working with formulas and creating charts.

 Room 262         Up, Up and Away,: Building a Hot Air Balloon     Presented by Dwight Bartlett

Come explore the value of using and building models in the classroom.  You’ll investigate lighter-than-air flight by building and launching a model hot air balloon and gain an understanding of the properties of air and measurement.

 Room 282         Pipeline Education     Presented by Leann Poston

Using an Anatomy and Physiology project in which Carroll High School students presented human body systems to local 6th graders using dissection and mini-labs with Vernier probes; participants will explore ideas on developing their own multilevel educational project.

Room 372         Useful Technology Applications for Collaboration and Communication  Presented by Maggie Veres

The characteristics of a 21st Century Learner are often described as being able to communicate and collaborate effectively.  Participants will be introduced to a variety of applications that encourage these skills.  The focus will be on inexpensive or free applications.

Let us help you add “power” while making your “point”.  Learn how to choose a theme, work with backgrounds and animation as well as graphics.                  

Room 262         That's A Class Of A Differentiated Color!     Presented by Joey Fultz

One teaching method is not always the best way to reach every student.  You’ll be given a brief background on Differentiated Instruction and shown several simple tools that can be used in the classroom. When you leave this session you will have a better understanding of the importance of and how to differentiate effectively.

Room 282         Toys In Space       Presented by Christine Evans

Discover the basics of Newton’s Three Laws of Motion as students play with common toys and predict (and confirm) the toys’ performance in microgravity.

Teachers are always seeking new ways to engage students.  There are many resources available for teachers at little or no cost.  Participants will be introduced to many sites that share resources for educators.

Room 374     Basic Publisher      Presented by DeLena Aungst, Business Information Systems Dept., Sinclair

Learn how to create newsletters, brochures, calendars and more! Gain experience creating a page with text and pictures, inserting pages and manipulating the layout.

 Room 262     Using the QUEST method for conducting inquiry science         Presented by Carrie Bell

Is conducting an open inquiry in your classroom daunting? Learn simple methods to introduce the scientific method to students of all ages using the QUEST method. We will conduct a brief hands-on inquiry, discuss how to overcome some of the obstacles you may face in the classroom, and learn how to foster the inquisitive minds of your students!

Room 282     Paper Rollercoasters     Presented by Beverly Stambaugh

The roller coaster is a great example of conversions between potential energy and kinetic energy.  You will make a paper roller coaster track and use marbles for the cars. By interrupting the track and allowing the marble to continue on a smooth, level surface, you will measure the velocity of the marble and calculate its kinetic energy.
