The idea of a legal ‘hackathon,’ a gathering of lawyers, technologists, user experience designers and public and private sector organizations to tackle a set of access to justice issues through the use of technology is a new one.
ODR2014 is proud to host the first ever dispute resolution hackathon, where participants will spend the weekend of June 21-22nd tackling problems within 4 thematic areas, and produce prototypes that will be curated and presented to audiences at ODR2014’s UC Hastings event.
Saturday, June 21st
9am || Registration/check-in; coffee
9.30am - 11am || Technology tool presentations
11am - 1pm || Issue presentations
1-2pm || Lunch
2pm - 7pm || Team assembly and brainstorming sessions with supervision from a couple of tech, dispute resolution, legal and design mentors
7pm - 10pm || Informal after-work drinks & dinner (not covered by organizers)
Sunday June 22nd
9am || check-in; coffee
9.30am - 5pm || Teams re-assemble and work on their problem sets with supervision from a couple of tech, dispute resolution, legal and design mentors
5pm - 7pm || Team presentations of their products to the rest of the hackathon group; feedback from mentors/supervisors
7pm - 10pm || More pizza and beer/wine; decompression session

What to create: A 5-15 minute presentation on the issue you are addressing, the proposed tech solution, the how it addresses the issue, and its potential for scaleability. Wireframes and infographics are a great way of presenting your ideas; so are process flow diagrams.
