Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday; attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Tie Institute generously supported by youth employment program of MEDTE, Ontario government, and runs entrepreneurship program to inspire and enable aspiring participants to ideate, learn, conceive, design and develop implementable entrepreneurial initiatives with innovative solutions for positive impact with double or triple bottom line.
TiE Institute program is for social entrepreneur, tech founder, student or young professional with a vision for social change and who feel inspired to use your talents to start up launch and grow their venture. They may pursue tech and non tech solutions in education, employment, poverty, water, sanitation, clean/ alternate energy, shelter, infrastructure, food, nutrition, communication, assistive technology, environment, health, med tech and much more.
