Based on research about how beginning teachers think about curriculum, the University of Washington has developed a "Big Ideas" Tool. This tool will help you think about the topics you commonly encounter in science curricula and how to transform these into ideas worth teaching and learning. CMs will learn how to design instruction and then take the journey with students through the three essential discourses of science understanding. CMs will also construct a new paradigm for developing young scientists, engineers, and researchers.
