Mental Health Benefits Meetup on 07/26/13, 8pm - 10pm

Tea is mind revealed in nature - a profound expression of the relationship between nature and humanity.  Beginning with the mythical Chinese emperor Shennong, it evolves over millennia before being inscribed in Lu Yu’s Chajing, or Tea Classic.  Now, several centuries later, tea has become a global phenomenon.

Rustic and refined, the practice of tea welcomes moments of spiritual repose into our daily lives.  A health tonic with numerous reported nutritional and curative benefits, tea is also a vehicle for cultivation of moral and spiritual virtues rooted in classical Chinese ideals of harmony between heaven, earth, and human.  And, beyond these classical roots, tea is a transmission of mind, a culture without borders, a catalyst for the fulfillment of universal human values.

Please join us for this exciting event, which will feature a brief introduction to tea and mindfulness from classical Chinese and contemporary Western perspectives and gongfu-style brewing of several high-quality Pu’er teas in the wonderful ambiance of Taste teahouse.
