Online channels, especially through social media, are a foundational shift in the way we communicate and form relationships. It is vitally important that all ministers and leadership understand why and how to use these platforms for conversation and community. In this conference, we will discuss why congregations should care to have an online presence, our concerns about online relationships, general tips and policies for individuals and churches, how to create boundaries and more.
Once you know why you should be online, where do you begin? We’ll spend significant time discussing social media strategies (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, blogs, YouTube, LinkedIn, and more). We will address other helpful online tools (podcasts, live streaming, calendars, etc) and some dos and don’ts for websites and e-newsletters to share with your congregation. You will walk away with an understanding of how effective online communication will help congregations and ministers in this digital age.
Cost is $45 which includes lunch.
Our presenter is Natalie Aho works as an Interactive Communications Specialist for the Associated Baptist Press as well as a consultant for the Center for Congregational Health and is an endorsed coach for SocialPhonics. With an MS in Interactive Media and over ten years of communication experience as well as four years in the classroom, she is well qualified to provide communication consulting for individuals, non-profits and churches.
