Taste of the Sea is an annual Seafood Tasting Fundraiser to benefit the Sea Delight Ocean Fund's fishery improvement projects. Our goal is to work with local chefs and restaurants as well as local organizations dedicated to marine conservation and research so that attendees can enjoy not only delicious seafood dishes prepared with responsibly sourced seafood, but also learn about some local and global programs dedicated to the protection of our oceans.
In 2015 we celebrated National Seafood Month with a Masquerade Ball. This year, we will kick-off National Seafood Month on October 1st by celebrating 100 years of Fishing History.
To “spice” it up, we will be hosting a LIVE Cook-Off (Judge’s Choice), hosted by winner of Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen, Chef Robyn Almodovar.. Participating Chefs in the LIVE Cook-Off are 6 amazing chefs who have made their mark on Food Network competition shows, Chef Michell Sanchez of Latin House Grill featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and a contestant on Chopped; Chef Adrienne Grenier, also a winner of Chopped; Chef Alain Lemaire, featured in Cutthroat Kitchen, and Chef Barret Beyer, also featured in Chopped and Hell’s Kitchen. Chef Alex Rodil, contestant on both Food Network’s Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen and owner of On the Fly private catering for the yachting industry, and Chef Ryan Martin, owner of 180° at the DRB in downtown Miami is known worldwide for his global flavors and his Gastronomy Redefined..Judges are TBA.
All attendees are also given the opportunity to vote on their favorite dish of the evening. The winning Chef is voted Taste of the Sea Fan’s Favorite and receives a beautiful plaque to acknowledge not only their winning dish but also their support for sustainable seafood.
