Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing

The new Tappan Zee Bridge carrying I-87/I-287 over the Hudson River between Nyack and Tarrytown will be a $3.14 billion design-build replacement of the current bridge. The project includes parallel bridges approximately 3 miles long, including twin cables-stayed structures over the shipping channel. Approach structures primarily consist of 5-span continuous girder sub-stringer bridges with 350’ span lengths. The bridge is primarily founded on large diameter open-end pipe piles.
Kenneth J. Wright, P.E. is a Senior Vice President at HDR witha B.S., Civil Engineering, Lehigh University, and M.B.A. with Leadership Concentration, Baker College. He is licensed Professional Engineer in seven states. His experience is in design and management of major bridge and highway projects including concrete and steel bridges from small overpass structures to major river crossings. Mr. Wright has an extensive knowledge of structural concepts, substructures, river piers, superstructures, retaining walls, and bridge permitting.
