Title: HDInsights into Big Data
In this session we will discuss what it means to have Big Data, where the opportunities lie to incorporate these new technologies.and then demonstrate how they fit into the Microsoft BI landscape including demos of HDInsight and MS BI tools working together.
My name is Brian Mitchell, I am a Senior Consultant at Microsoft. I’m currently working in an organization called the Big Data Center of Expertise. This team provides field guidance all Big Data (HDInsight), Business Intelligence (SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS) and SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse. One of my main purposes of this blog is to develop my thoughts on what these products are and are not. What we can do to better support them, and improve our presentation materials for training both internally and externally.
I’ve been working with SQL Server since 2000, at Microsoft since 2006. Within Microsoft, I’ve worked as both a PFE and Consultant. My main interests on the core product are around performance and replication. In the fall of 2009, I endured the three weeks of intensive training and testing to become a Microsoft Certified Master for SQL Server 2008. On top of the core SQL Engine, I’ve been very interested in the Business Intelligence stack included with SQL Server. I’ve become relatively proficient at Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and PerformancePoint. In 2011, I received the certification of Analysis Services Maestro. I need to learn more about Integration Services and will continue to try to find opportunities to improve.
