How to use Google Analytics for Game Analytics

In this talk, Charles Parra (TreSensa) will cover how Google Analytics, a platform originally designed to track website usage, can be leveraged by game developers to track user acquisition, retention and monetization for games. The material presented will provide a practical and hands-on guide to integrating Google Analytics API into an HTML5/javascript game. Additionally, these concepts can be generally applied to any mobile game, including native iOS and Android games.

Topics to be covered:
  • Overview of the Acquisition, Retention, Monetization (ARM) funnel framework
  • Developing an analytics taxonomy for your games
  • Implementing the Google Analytics tracking code to track game screen views, user events, and in-game purchases
  • Debugging tracking code using GA Debug for Chrome
  • Navigating the Google Analytics Reporting Console
  • Implementing Goals and Segments to track conversions
  • Differences between the Google Analytics web and native SDK tracking code and reports
