Featuring: CROW JOHNSON EVANS
Born into a NYC 1940's jazz/arts community, Crow Johnson Evans grew up in a Woodstock NY colony before moving to Texas. Crow then earned a degree in Zoology while playing her own music in clubs in Austin, TX. With her then husband (Paul Johnson), Crow moved overseas to chase the music dream. She was signed by RingMaker Music and settled in London, recording and performing throughout Europe. After several years, she returned to US to live in handmade cabin in the Northwest Arkansas woods. She continued to tour the US until early 2000s, and then turned to writing short stories rather than singing them, and spinning fibers, weaving, and knitting. Crow is the recipient of The Spirit of Kerrville Award (1993), The World Folk Music Association Kate Wolf Memorial Award (1995), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NWAMA (2002). About Crow's book "Flights of Fancy," Songwriter/Grammy winning Recording Artist Lucinda Williams said, "These marvelous stories are about everyday people leading not so everyday lives. Crow leads you through a labyrinth of her own brand of Southern Gothic writing that’s as real as the day is long." Crow now eco-tours with the love of her life and husband of 30 years, Arthur F. Evans, in Northwest Arkansas.
