VIII. FAQS

Is my registration transferable?
Yes, if the new registrant is between the ages of 18-35 or is a group leader. Notify us in advance by email: taizeaustin@fbcaustin.org

May I receive a refund?
You may ask for a refund prior to March 15th, the Wednesday before the event.

Is there free parking?
No and yes.
Friday evening attendees must pay for parking either on the street or in the parking garage across from the church at 8th and Trinity.
Saturday the parking garage will be open for attendees to use, but street parking must be paid for.

Which airports serve Austin?
Austin is served by Austin Bergstrom International Aiport. The commute to and from the airport on average to the church is approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic. Coming in on Friday from the aiport may take longer, but leaving on Sunday will be faster.

What about local transportation?
Public transportation is available from Capital Metro (www.capmetro.com).  You may check routes using the trip planner on the capmetro website (http://www.capmetro.org/planner) or call the "go line" - 512-474-1200.  Most routes are $1 one way or $2 for a day pass.

How do I get to and from the airport?
Arrival on Friday - The #100 Airport Flyer departs from the airport lower level and stops on Trinity street within walking distance of FBC Austin.  The fee is $1.50 one way or $3 for a day pass.  You may check route schedules by phone 512-474-1200 or online at (http://www.capmetro.org/planner).
Return on Sunday - The #100 Airport Flyer departs Congress & 3rd street in the afternoon.

I plan to arrive in Austin before Friday the 21st and leave later than Sunday the 23rd.  Can I request extended housing?
Support for housing attendees comes directly from members of our various church congregations.  Since they have to get back to the daily grind M-F, we have not asked them to exted their hospitality beyond the weekend.  There are many hotels in the area.  Sometimes Austin hotels do book up solid for busy event weeks and weekends so we recommend that you arrange for any hotel needs far in advance.

Is Austin served by other types of transportation?
Amtrak: www.amtrak.com
Megabus: www.megabus.com
Greyhound: www.greyhound.com

THE TAIZÉ COMMUNITY

THE TAIZÉ COMMUNITY

TAIZÉ, FRANCE

The Taizé Community is an ecumenical monastic community founded by Brother Roger and located in the small village of Taizé, France. The Brothers are from twenty-five countries and from various Christian denominations. Together they seek to live a parable of community and reconciliation. For over forty years, Taizé has become a place of pilgrimage for tens of thousands of young adults from all over the world. At Taizé, they take part in weekly meetings that are organized by the community.

Taizé is well-known in the United States for its music (The Songs of Taizé) and style of prayer: a contemplative prayer made accessible to all. The Community regularly organizes huge gatherings for young adults in major European cities (Rome in 2012) and on other continents: Rwanda in 2012, Chicago in 2012, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 2013, and Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas in 2014. These gatherings are part of a "Pilgrimage of Trust." Those who take part are invited to be bearers of trust and reconciliation in the places where they live, study and/or work.
