The 2012 Richard Neutra Award for Professional Excellence
on March 28th 2012
The Neutra Medal recognizes contribution from individuals to the environmental design profession. Past Neutra Medal recipients include Renzo Piano, Kisho Kurokawa, Herman Hertzberger, Moshe Safdie, Raymond Kappe, Raphael Soriano, and, most recently, Thom Mayne.
The talk will take place Wednesday, March 28th, 2012 at 6:00PM at the University Theatre, with a reception starting at 4:30PM. The awarding of the Neutra Medal is timed with the release of a new book, a retrospective of Ando’s distinguished career. Written by Philip Jodidio and published by Taschen, a limited number of advance copies of Ando: Complete Works 1975-2012 will be available for purchase for $60 (cash or check) at the event on March 28, and Tadao Ando will sign copies of the book prior to his lecture.
The lecture is free and open to the public. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP at tadaoando2012.eventbrite.com for guaranteed seating by March 15. Registration for those who have RSVP’d will start at 4:30PM; seats will also be available on March 28th on a limited basis. The lecture and reception have been made possible by the Henry Woo Lecture Series Fund.

The University Theater (Building 25) is located in the center of campus. Visit the Parking and Information Booth (Building 133) to get a parking pass ($5), and park in Lot C. A map of the general campus can be found here. The campus address is 3801 W Temple Ave, Pomona, CA 91768.
From I-10: Exit on Kellogg Drive. If you were coming from West (Los Angeles) follow the off-ramp to the right. If you are coming from east (San Bernardino), turn left on Kellogg Drive. Go past one stop sign and one traffic light, and you will see a parking booth on your right.
From 57: Take Temple Avenue exit (at the end of off-ramp, turn left if you’re coming from south; turn right if you’re coming from north or the 210). Cross the traffic lights at Pomona Blvd and Valley Blvd and turn right at the traffic light on South Campus Dr. Turn left on Kellogg Dive and proceed until you see a parking booth on your left.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, March 28 for the lecture by Architect Tadao Ando, recipient of the 2012 Richard Neutra Award for Professional Excellence. This lecture has been funded through the Henry Woo Lecture Series. Please see below for some updates to the day's events.
- Please see the map at http://www.csupomona.edu/~juintowlin/NeutraAward/CPP-NeutraAward-Ando-Directions.jpg, which shows directions from the parking lot to the Theater and overflow space.
- Upon arrival, all registered guaranteed guests should check in and receive a wristband. Guaranteed seats are non-transferable.
- Doors will open at 5:40PM. All guaranteed seat holders should arrive by this time and enter the theater as we have a large number of waitlisted guests.
- After 5:40PM, seats will be given to waitlisted guests in the order that they registered. Once the theater is filled to capacity, the remaining attendees will be directed to overflow space(s).
- There is no photography or videography allowed during the reception, book signing, and lecture. Photographing is only permitted to official press photographers wearing approved armbands.

ANDO: Complete Works 1975 - 2012
Each advanced copy will come with a special original Ando sketch for the first 150 people to purchase.
Wednesday, March 28th
Signing will take place: 4:30–5:30 PM
Only 150 advanced copies of the book will be available for signing and will be available on a first come first serve basis. Books go on sale starting at 4:00pm at the Theater courtyard (Building 25). The books will be sold for $50, and cash is preferred. The official release of ANDO: Complete Works 1975-2012 will be May 2012.
This will be Tadao Ando’s only U.S. signing for this title of the year! Take advantage of this great opportunity.
Please note that this event is overbooked as of now. We are adding an overflow space where we livestream the lecture in Building 7 Atrium (www.csupomona.edu/maps), however the space is also limited to 120 people. We are opening the theater if not fully occupied to people waiting at 5:40pm.
