TableTop Thursdays: Machine of Death
Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM (EST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
On this TableTop Thursday we’re featuring the kickstarted Card Game “Machine of Death” a Kickstarter game that has come to fruition! Brian Smawley will be lending B&B his copy of the game to play. Want to know more? Check out the official webpage here!
In the world of our game, there exists a machine (the titular Machine of Death) that can issue people little cards: deathpredictions. Nobody knows just how it works, but it’s always, always right. (You may recognize this concept from our #1 bestselling short story collection, which is also titled, COINCIDENTALLY, Machine of Death.)
The book was about exploring the existential ramifications of the existence of the machine in worlds otherwise much like our own. It’s a thoughtful, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, meditation on fate.
The GAME is about flinging SHARKS from CATAPULTS in order to kill imaginary people. It’s basically a game of Mousetrap or a Road Runner cartoon, except that it’s TOTALLY WITHIN THE RULES to create a QUICKSAND GENERATOR in a TREEHOUSE in order to DROWN A CHILD. (That was a real game we played.)
When & Where
Battle & Brew
Battle & Brew is Atlanta’s first Game Bar. Opened in 2005, Battle & Brew had a very modest menu, a few beer taps, and focused heavily on gaming. Now we have grown to encompass so much more. We’ve added more tap handles including nitrous taps and serve local and specialty craft beers. We pioneered Geek Trivia in Atlanta, and remain the hardest trivia in town. We have hand crafted Sake Cocktails. We have upgraded the menu from only a few items to all your bar favorites and some soon-to-be favorites like the Tri Force Burrito and The Mermaid. The gaming is still there, and still top of the line with all the newest games and systems. We’ve taken our great place and made it your great place. A place where the staff listens to your desires and suggestions. A place where you and your friends feel like you’re at home. A place where everyone knows your game.
