SYMPOSIUM FAITH + ART: The Story in a Still
Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM (EDT)
Photography has become more accessible than ever, resulting in an endless stream of images competing for our attention. Let us refocus our efforts and refine our taste by exploring methods that transcend the digital era's pursuit of instant gratification.
Doug Jackson's pursuit of photography started in 2008 with an inexpensive medium format camera and plastic lens. For the next 3 years, he slowly upgraded to other medium format cameras but continued to strictly shoot film with an external light meter and manual focus. These limitations dictated a pace which became his foundation for shooting stills. Doug studied a year of black and white photography at Valencia College and is currently finishing up his thesis for film at Full Sail University. Since living in Orlando, he has shot for the Toronto Symphony, La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil, and the Walt Disney World Resort.
City Beautiful Church is launching this new series of 4 Symposiums that explore the collision of faith and art. These free events, spread across 8 weeks, will cover a broad scope and all levels of expertise are welcome.
