ASLA Hawaii Chapter invites you to a fun and educational event you’ll never want to miss!!


The purpose of this event is to raise the awareness of sustainability within Hawaii’s landscape design field and to assist participants getting familiar with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Also, to brainstorm ideas about practicing sustainable design and how we, as landscape designers and land planners, can help rehabilitate damaged sites as well as reduce pressure on undeveloped land. A presentation regarding LEED for Neighborhood Development will be provided by Deanna Weber, a senior director and LEED expert from EDAW I AECOM Irvine Office. She'll be also talking about some sustainable design case studies in Hawaii. Last but not least, this event provides an opportunity to network with the local professionals; and to appreciate some excellent local projects through project showcase. Please come and join us!! 



5:30 - 6pm: opening and exhibits

6 - 7pm: Dinner and Presentation

7 - 8pm: member networking and brain-storming

          • ASLA Hawaii Chapter Updates

          • LEED new rating system update- LEED for Neighborhood Development

Speaker Information:

Deanna Weber has served as a leading planner, urban designer and landscape architect on a wide variety of complex projects involving mixed use/ revitalization sites, resort and recreation planning/design projects, planning and implementation of large master planned communities and community participation programs. Ms. Weber is known for her strategic approach to problem solving, sustainable design background, facilitation skills and attention to detail. Her experience overseeing projects from concept to construction implementation is critical to achieving Client’s success on a wide variety of scales. Ms. Weber is a leader in implementation of sustainable design principles on a number of high profile projects. She is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional/ consultant and member of the Urban Land Institute’s Sustainable Development Council. Significant sustainable projects completed include: Canyon Forest Village within the Grand Canyon’s watershed (LEED Pilot project/National ASLA Planning Award); the Aspen Skiing Company’s Sundeck (one of the first 12 LEED certified buildings in the county); High Desert (the most successful green oriented master planned community in Albuquerque, NM); Northstar at Tahoe’sLEED Village; the Flathead County, Montana Master Plan (National ASLA Planning Award) and El Rancho San Benito involving (whole systems integrated modeling to determine what a carbon neutral community involves and costs).
