Sussex County LIVE Conference: Live Safe and Secure
Monday, October 13, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (PDT)
The mission of The LIVE Conference is to improve the knowledge and understanding of services and techniques that support seniors who want to live physically and financially safe and secure in their homes and communities. The Conference will be held at Sussex Academy, 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown, Delaware. A continental breakfast and box lunch will be provided. Ticket registration is required. Last year’s conference sold out weeks in advance. Tickets are just $5 and must be purchased in advance. (Note: Eventbrite adds a $1.27 surcharge)

9:15 - 9:45 am Keynote Address - Rita Landgraf, Secretary, Delaware Health and Social Services (DHSS) - Services provided to ensure the safety and security for older Delawareans. Questions from attendees.
9:45 - 10:45 am LIVE Safe - Lester Johnson, Special Investigator, Delaware Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General - Elder abuse, scams, frauds. Questions from attendees.

11:00 - 12:00 pm LIVE Safe - George Camacho, State Police Community Liaison; Dawn Culp, Forensic Nurse Coordinator, Senior Trauma Services; Gail Weinberg, DHSS Adult Care Ombudsman Program - Panel will discuss difficult issues affecting seniors, including long-term care complaints and violent crime. The Advisory Committee on Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities serves as a liaison to the Sussex County Council. The mission of the Advisory Committee is to promote and advocate for the benefit of the aging and adults with physical disabilities of Sussex County by increasing dialogue, identifying unmet needs, and guiding and directing constituents to available programs and services.
