Kotorino Jeff got together some friends, some family and some people he never met before to make music. Music for people, new music, but familiar. In this case that happened to include himself on guitar, words and birds, Estelle Bajou and Molly White on vocals, violins and verve, brother Jerome Morris on the batterie required, Sara Zar on musical see and saw, Liz Prince on tuba and invasive procedures, Mike Brown on upstanding bass, Stefan Zeniuk on reeds and rites, Jesse Selengut – trumpestuousness.
Kotorino is an old-timey orchestra, a juke joint pick-up band operating in the heart of Brooklyn. Horn players and drummers will appear like tumbleweeds blowing in on the L train, sit in for a show, maybe two, and disappear again to parts unknown. Depending on the night, you might hear a pump organ, a banjo, the occasional musical saw. –Life On The Eggship
COMPOSER and CABARET ARTIST:
“Smart, mischievous fun”
Stories about characters, both real and fictional, have always had great appeal to me. After reading a magazine article about a murderess in my neighborhood, I was inspired to set her story to music. “Foxglove” was the title and the name of the poison. Since then, over 30 additional songs have been added to the roster. With my first solo release in 2011, I am looking forward to releasing more songs, revealing more stories..including some of my own. My cabaret takes its influence from theater, classical music, vaudeville, rock, jazz, blues and tango. “Cabaret Nouveau” blends dark cabaret, sassy lyrics, hot piano stylings, great grooves and crafty songwriting. Echoes of Nina Simone, George Gershwin, Kurt Weill, and Elton John are heard in the music and lyrics, as well as a connection to members of the “Dark Cabaret” movement such as The Dresden Dolls, Jill Tracy, Antony and the Johnsons and The Tiger Lilies. She was winner of the “Best Modern Cabaret Artist” Competition in 2010. Lovejoy has been performed both solo and with her band at venues such as Cafe duNord, the Great American Music Hall, the Regency Ballroom, Amnesia, as well as clubs and concert halls in France and Switzerland. She has been a feature artist at the Edwardian Ball, Cabaret Verdalet, Little Minsky’s Burlesque and the Shadow Puppet Theater.
“The Seven Deadly Pleasures”, a cabaret-rock musical, is a collaboration between Allison Lovejoy, Geoff Ball and unseen forces. It focuses on the universal conflict between good and evil and the “new sins” of modern times. Allison plays Foxglove at The Edwardian Ball

Mike Ballan’s Solo Set
Mike Ballan is a singer-songwriter and the lead singer of the band We Arsons, out of San Francisco, CA. The music blends traditional and indie folk with alternative rock, lending a certain affinity to the 90's. Mike has been writing songs for over a decade, placing as much emphasis on the prose as the musical integrity, and is constantly looking to expand the range of music and sounds to be created. His band, We Arsons, will release their debut LP, Weather Making, in late summer of 2013.
When & Where
The NEW NOCTURNES is a collection of gorgeous solo piano music fusing contemporary classical, jazz and other styles. The Nocturne recalls the Romantic and poignant music of Chopin, and is a melodic and quieter type of piece associated with night moods.
Collected and commissioned by Allison Lovejoy, produced by Candace Forest, engineered by Sudhananda Paul Greever at Stillwater Studios in Mill Valley on a FAZIOLI grand piano!
