Contrary to popular belief, depression is not a normal part of the aging process. This presentation will help caregivers and healthcare professionals respond to severe depression and/or suicidal behavior among older adults.
The program will feature an educational session on suicide risk within this population, presented by Kris Moore, Community Education Director for Behavioral Healthcare Center at Martin. Her segment will be followed by presentation of the evidence-based “Question, Persuade, and Refer” (QPR) suicide prevention curriculum, facilitated by Kathy Strahan of Professional Care Services of West Tennessee.
This event is sponsored and organized by Behavioral Healthcare Center at Martin, Lakeside Behavioral Health System, and the Rural West Region of the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network.
