Sugarplum Ball 2014
Benefiting Children's Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Sugarplum Ball is Children's Hospital's annual black tie gala. This year the ball will be held at The Terminal at the Lakefront Airport. You will be transported back to the golden age of aviation. We ask you to "Fly Away" with us for an evening you won't soon forget.
Live music will play while you delight in a sampling of foods from several local restaurants. Before you hit the dance floor, be sure to peruse the silent auction items that can be yours with the right bid.

The 2014 Sugarplum Ball will help fund the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Children’s Hospital. The NICU is a state-of-the art, 36-bed critical care unit for newborns that provides care for issues ranging from prematurity to neonatal respiratory distress to infections and birth defects.
To ensure the region’s sickest babies receive the highest level care, the NICU has expanded more than five times its original size since opening in 1988. In 2012, 228 babies were admitted to the NICU and stayed an average of 30 days.

When & Where
Since we opened our doors in 1955, Children's Hospital has continually offered the most advanced pediatric care. With more than 40 specialties, 247 beds and nearly 400 physicians, we are the only full-service hospital exclusively for children in Louisiana and the Gulf South.
As a not-for-profit medical center, the hospital has no stockholders or dividends to pay. Children's Hospital is governed by an independent board of trustees made up of community volunteers. Revenue generated is used to operate the hospital and to expand and advance its services. We are proud to say that it is our strict policy to never turn away a child in need of the medical care we provide based on the family's ability to pay.
In 2012, Children's Hospital recorded 200,834 patient visits, with children coming from all 64 parishes, 37 states and 6 foreign countries. In all 60,557 children received care from our hospital last year.
