Introducing Stupid Cancer’s latest community program, the Stupid Cancer Town Hall, an evening event covering a single topic relevant to local cancer survivors and caregivers. Meet and interact with other young adults affected by cancer while learning how to address key survivorship issues from experts in their fields.
Cut The Cancer: Rehabilitation through the Study of Aikido
Cut The Cancer is a rehabilitative program that takes the physical, spiritual and philosophical aspects of the Japanese Martial art Aikido and applies this to a cancer survivor’s personal growth. This exhilarating and innovative course is given to cancer survivors and their caregivers and is designed to help with rehabilitation from cancer. The program contains 3 essential components: core stretching and strengthening; a low impact, Aikido based study of the bokken (wooden sword), and Zen Meditation and breathing exercises.
Tim Spies has been teaching Cut The Cancer to cancer survivors and caregivers since 2010. Originally limited to the Chicago area, the program has been expanded and is now taught in several locations throughout the United States.
Always consult with your medical team before starting a new exercise program.
