Student Service Recognition Luncheon & Elections

We want to recognize you for your active involvement with the organization.   Delta Epsilon Iota is committed to the career and professional development of its members.  This year the DEI leadership team promoted the ideals of the organization by coordinating specialized programming, socials and fundraising opportunities.  

Elections

If you are interested in a leadership position, this is the opportunity to nominate yourself as board election will also occur.  You must be present at this meeting to run for a leadership position.

 

 

Below are descriptions of vacant board positions and the criteria for officers.

President

o    Supervise and coordinate the activities of the organization.

o    Announce and preside over all the meetings and call meetings to order.

o    Maintain communication with the Office of Student Involvement and ensure that all paperwork is current.

o    Be one of three signers on financial documents.

o    Collaborate with other officers to assign special projects.

o    Ensure that all officers are performing their duties as defined in this Constitution.

o    Keep advisor informed of activities and functions of the organization.

o    Administer the policies and procedures of the national organization.

o    Be familiar with Robert’s Rules of Order to conduct meetings.

o    Assume responsibility for the overall success of the chapter.

Vice- President

o    Assist the President in his/her duties.

o    Keep accurate records of all meetings in the Secretary’s absence.

o    Assist in special projects as assigned by the President.

o    Welcome new members.

o    Encourage participation in chapter activities.

o    In the absence of the president, ensure all duties and responsibilities are met.

 

Treasurer

o    Keep an accurate account of all funds received and expended.

o    Present a budget report of deposits and expenditures to the membership at least once per month, and as requested by the President, Vice-President, or advisor.

o    Be responsible for creating a budget at the beginning of each fall and spring semester, in conjunction with the President.

o    Assist in special projects as assigned by the President.

o    Control local funds on behalf of the chapter and the national organization.

o   Report regularly to the national organization on the financial status of the chapter.

Secretary

o    Notify members of meetings via e-mail and/or telephone.

o    Keep accurate minutes and records of all meetings.

o    Maintain accurate list of members and their contact information.

o    Perform a verbal roll call of all and maintain an attendance record.

o    Prepare ballots for elections.

o    Tally participation points earned by members on a monthly basis.

o    Keep copy of constitution and have available for members.

o    Assist in special projects as assigned by the President.

o    Assist in the communication between the chapter and the DEI national office.

Website Coordinator

o    Establish, maintain, and regularly update the chapter website and member email list.

o    Take and upload pictures of meetings, programming events and activities.

o    Upload presentation materials and handouts from meetings, programming events and activities.

o    Produce PowerPoint presentation of pictures for member events.

 

Criteria for Officers

1.       Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate degree-seeking or a post-baccalaureate student, at least 5 credit hours as a graduate degree-seeking student, or at least 3 credit hours as a graduate student in thesis/dissertation hours.

2.       Have a minimum grade point average (2.5 for undergrad students and 3.0 for graduate students) for (1) for all hours earned while enrolled at UCF (UCF GPA) or (2) previous educational institutional institution, if student is a transfer student in his/her first semester at UCF.

3.       Be in good academic and disciplinary standing, defined as not being on academic or disciplinary probation.

4.       Be free or financial or disciplinary holds in University records (this includes parking, library, CLAST, health center holds, etc.). Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours as an undergraduate degree-seeking student, at least 5 credit hours as a graduate degree seeking student, or at least 3 credit hours as a graduate student in thesis/dissertation hours.

5.       Qualify as an active member of DEI – attend at least one meeting per year and by participating in at least one chapter activity per year.

 

Board Commitments

1.       Board members will serve a one-year term (September-April)

2.       Board members will hold a monthly board meeting during the fall and spring semesters
