ELEVATE Summer Mission Trips 2013
This summer, ELEVATE Student Ministries will be taking 3 mission trips that will allow us to serve our community, our nation, and our world in the name and Spirit of Christ. Below is a description of each trip along with the dates and age range for each trip.
SIFAT (all grades 6th-12th) - July 7th-12th
SIFAT, or Servants in Faith and Technology, is an immersive missions camp in Lineville, AL. We’ll be participating in the learn and serve program, designed to learn about diverse cultures, different living conditions and some of the technologies that S.I.F.A.T. uses around the world. Speaking about their experience at SIFAT, one of our youth commented, “It was intense and very real. It gave us a real look at how a huge population of the world lives day-to-day.”
This experience is very hands-on and experiential, giving students and adults alike a first hand glimpse at the realities and circumstances that many people in the world experience. SIFAT also trains and exposes attendees of simple tools and technologies that address the issues of poverty and empower us to implement these resources in our communities and around the world.
SOUL on the Streets (all grades 6th-12th) - July 21st-26th
We will be continuing our local mission trip tradition with a few extra elements added. Each morning our students will help implement a Vacation Bible School program at our South Street campus. Our students serve on various teams that help serve, teach and entertain the students that attend this awesome program offered to them at no cost.
The afternoons of this trip will be spent visiting and serving with local ministries and social service organizations that help meet the needs of those in the community. The purpose of this trip is for students to identify the needs of our own community and become aware of ways that they can serve.
Our headquarters for this trip are at South Street Ministries, and we use exclusively public transportation for our travel needs. This trip is a great opportunity for students to become aware of not only the reality and great needs that face our city, but also the great services offered in our community to those in need. At the end of our week, we give our students a very personal opportunity to respond to the need that they see in our community and, as the acronym SOUL states, Serve Orlando with Unconditional Love.
