We know that chronic stress is bad for our health, and ultimately bad for the workplace. Talking about stress won’t make it go away. While there is much we can do to alleviate stressors both in life and at work, stress triggers happen. When they happen to you, how are you affected? We have a lot to learn from those who handle stress well; those who are able to resist it despite difficult circumstances. How can you and your family and workplace thrive and survive despite these difficulties?

Kathryn

Kathryn is a Wellcoaches trained and certified wellness coach with her company, Health Inspires, LLC, and uses a holistic approach to help people reach their full potential and master their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. She is a lifelong athlete and nutrition advocate, co-created and sold nutrition education tools to Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Round-Up, and feels fortunate to have interned at the nationally recognized Dell Center at the University of Texas School of Public Health. In addition, she is Director of Employer Health and Wellness for St. David's HealthCare, working with employers on wellness strategies and employee engagement. Kathryn volunteers her time and contributes to the Austin Mayor’s Health and Fitness Council and Business Group on Health, is Vice Chair, Board of Directors for the Austin Metropolitan YMCA, and is a proud and recent graduate of the Leadership Austin Essential Class 2015.

Lisa

Lisa Feder is a full-time Yoga instructor and wellness consultant living in Austin, Texas. She has had a passion for all things wellness for as long as she can remember. While working for over 20 years in the corporate world as a strategic marketing specialist, she began teaching fitness classes in her free time. This led her to explore Yoga, and she fell in love with the way it made her and her students feel— physically, emotionally and energetically. After teaching part-time for many years, she took the leap and started Being Well Yoga, where she brings Yoga on-site to companies to help employees learn how to live healthier, more balanced lives. She also teaches in studios, schools, senior centers, parks and private homes. Her approach is balanced, and she likes to bring humor, challenge and deep relaxation into her practices. Lisa is especially interested in helping students find a Yoga practice that really works for them, and she believes that Yoga can provide more ease and comfort to all.

J.C. Adams is the Founder and CEO of Cloud 9, a new Austin based company that is creating technology for psychology. Cloud 9 creates mobile applications for healthcare organizations and mental health professionals to better engage with their patients, expand care delivery and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illnesses. J.C. launched his first company in college and four more since in technology, marketing, real estate and healthcare. J.C. had seen mental illness destroy the lives of 6 close loved ones in his lifetime. After rapid advancement of bipolar disorder destroyed a 7th, with a very close friend in 2009, J.C. realized the tremendous need for make improvements to this long neglected segment of healthcare, and has made this his mission.
Vicki Parsons develops, implements and directs dance and fitness programming for Ballet Austin's Butler Center for Dance & Fitness and Pilates Center. Health, fitness, and overall wellness are a priority, and through classes, community-based programs, and BeWell Talks she helps promote the value of life-long health and well-being in the Austin community. Vicki also oversees employee wellness initiatives at Ballet Austin.

Vicki has over 25 years of experience working in the field of Long Term Care, specifically in direct care as a Licensed Recreation Therapist, where she implemented therapeutic recreation as a treatment intervention to improve overall wellness. She also worked extensively with children and parents to promote healthy living, and taught at Austin Community College for 13 years

Vicki implemented the BeWell Healthy Living Talks in 2014, speaking on a variety of health and well-being topics at places of business and organizations in the Austin community.

Promoting physical activity and wellness to people of all ages continues to be one of her greatest interests and passions.

Her advice is simple, "it's your life, your health, YOU are in control. Be active. Be resilient, Be well!"
