Strategies for Not Just Good…But Great Governance!

Your board of directors understands and fulfills its legal and even ethical duties and responsibilities, but…is it a great board? This session will examine ways for nonprofit boards to move beyond compliance and towards excellence. In particular, we will look at conventions and strategies that help you attract, engage, and retain strong board members to provide the leadership needed for your organization to thrive. Drawing from the experiences of other nonprofits we will discuss strategies that work, and together discover ways in which you might be able to tailor them for your organization.

About the Southern Tier Capacity Building Mini-Grant and Assessment Programs:
Nonprofits who have a Board Member attend will qualify to apply for the 2014 Southern Tier Capacity Building Mini-Grant Program, as well as special assessment support offered directly by the New York Council of Nonprofits. The Mini-Grant Program and special assessment assistance are supported by United Way of Broome County, The Stewart W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation, The Community Foundation for South Central New York, Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation, and United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, Inc.
