“Strategic Fund Development for Non-Profit Organizations”

LARRP is teaming with the Jemmott Rollins Group, (JRG) to present a half-day workshop to assist organizations address fund development needs from a strategic perspective.  Workshop participation is limited to 25 people.

This workshop is for organizations with limited resources that are struggling to figure out how to serve the needs of the re-entering population.  This will be a highly interactive and participant-engaged experience that will further the understanding of fund development and ways to improve opportunities for more resources.

The workshop objectives are:

  • To use a strengths-based approach to outline and position participant organization for more resources.
  • To role-play negotiations with potential funders.
  • To examine common errors made by nonprofit organizations when seeking funds.
  • To promote collaborative rather than competitive approaches.

Jemmott Rollins Group Description of the Workshop

As a result of California State Assembly Bill (AB) 109, many LA County communities are experiencing an influx of individuals who were formerly incarcerated.  One goal of communities is to support the re-entry of our residents (e.g., brother and sisters, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, etc.) and to encourage and help them remain safe, housed, and productive in our neighborhoods.  This is an enormous challenge to community-based and faith-based organizations and health service providers, and comes at a time when resources are already stretched due to the economic conditions in the state and in the nation.  Nonetheless, many of us are willing to step up and reach out and surround those persons re-entering the community, and our collective responsibility is to figure out how to do this given what we have.

The Jemmott Rollins Group

Founded in 2002, Jemmott Rollins Group (JRG) is a minority-owned management consulting firm based in Los Angeles, California. With a mission to strengthen the nonprofit sector, particularly in low-income and communities of color, JRG reaches more than 150 organizations per year through direct technical assistance, convening and workshops. Organizations receive expert consultation that results in strategic plans, policy advocacy actions, campaign management, improved organizational management, collaborative efforts, curriculum development, survey data, evidence-based evaluation, and fund development planning.  JRG works in partnership with many community allies improving and strengthening several fields of discipline including public health, domestic violence, and social justice.  Our diverse, culturally competent, and multi-disciplinary staff is well aware of the myriad of challenges facing small, medium, and large community- and faith-based organizations.

REGISTRATION NOTE:  Participation is available on a first registered, first served basis and is limited to no more than two people per agency.  Because our workshops are experiencing a large no-show rate when people register and do not attend, reservations must be cancelled prior to 48 hours before the workshop so that people on the wait list may be contacted.
